380 to 220 V VFD: a rare but real task
"380 to 220 V drive" is a niche order. The site only has 3-phase 380 V mains, but you need to power a single-phase asynchronous motor (a country house pump, a home-built rig) or feed a 220 V three-phase load to start an old radio, lab bench, or vintage equipment. A standard industrial VFD with 380 V three-phase input puts 380 V three-phase on the motor. To get 1x220 V on the output we pick models whose V/f curve is fully programmable: Veichi AC10-T3, INVT GD20, Delta VFD-E.
How we set up this kind of drive
We ask the customer three things. One: exact voltage at the motor (220 V single-phase, or 220 V between two phases of a three-phase motor). Two: motor current. Three: what the motor drives (fixed speed or variable regulation). Setup: we set "motor rated voltage" = 220 V, "rated frequency" 50 Hz, standard V/f curve. The drive holds U/f constant and will not exceed 220 V even at the 50 Hz top frequency. If the motor is single-phase with a start capacitor, be careful: not every VFD will run it, in that case email us a photo of the nameplate. Shipping from our Kyiv warehouse takes 1-3 days.
