0.75 kW VFD: which motors we ship it for

A 0.75 kW VFD goes to a motor up to 1 HP. Our typical customer this year: a borehole pump at 0.55-0.75 kW, a small exhaust fan at 0.55 kW, a router in a carpentry shop. If your motor is 1.1 kW, take a size up and look at 1.5 kW. One note. The VFD rating refers to the motor it can drive, not its own internal power.

From our warehouse the most common picks are Veichi AC10-T/S2-R75G-B-VC (budget tier, V/f plus basic vector), Schneider Altivar 12 ATV12H075M2 (compact, with a 0-10V analog input), and INVT GD10-0R7G-S2-B (built-in EMC filter, saves panel space). Single-phase 220V on the input, three-phase output to the motor. That is the standard for this segment.

Single-phase 220V or three-phase 380V: what we ask first

The first thing we ask the customer. What supply do you have on site? In a workshop or private house it is usually single-phase 220V, so we take models like Delta VFD007EL21A or Schneider ATV12H075M2. On an industrial site with 380V, we take the three-phase version (3x380V in, 3x380V out). Motors rated 220/380 delta can run from a single-phase VFD, but you must switch the windings to delta. If you have 380V star, a single-phase VFD will not work, you need the three-phase one.

Second question. Where will the VFD live? In a control panel, IP20 is enough. In damp or dusty rooms (borehole, woodshop), ask us about Delta VFD-EL-W or Danfoss iC2 with IP55. Heads up. IP65 at 0.75 kW is almost never made by manufacturers, that class usually starts from 1.5 kW.

Scalar or vector: when we pick which

Scalar control (V/f) we ship for pumps, fans, simple conveyors, where rotation is steady and torque precision at low speed is not required. Vector control (sensorless or with encoder) goes on machine tools, extruders, winders, where you need to hold torque at 5-10 Hz. Models INVT GD20, Siemens SINAMICS V20, Veichi AC70 hold both modes, one parameter in the menu switches between them. In my view, if you have no strict spec, take the vector one. The price gap is small and the feature set is broader.

What else we ask before the order. First: is there a PLC or SCADA, because then you need Modbus RTU (every model has it) or Profinet/EtherCAT (ABB ACS580, Siemens G120, Schneider Altivar 320). Second: are you planning a brake resistor; at 0.75 kW it is rarely needed, but for hoists or inertial loads we recommend reserving the output. Warranty 12-24 months depending on the brand, shipping across Ukraine via Nova Poshta from our Kyiv warehouse.

Applications for 0.75 kW VFDs

Variable frequency drives rated at 0.75 kW (1 HP) are used wherever small electric motors require controlled speed and torque. Key applications include:

  • Pumps and pump stations — circulation pumps for heating systems, small borehole pumps, make-up water units. A VFD maintains constant pressure and reduces energy consumption by up to 30%.
  • Fans and exhaust systems — HVAC ventilation in production facilities, drying chambers, and laboratories. Speed control reduces noise and extends bearing life.
  • Conveyors and belt systems — belt conveyors for packaging lines, food processing, and pharmaceuticals. Soft starting prevents product damage and mechanical wear.
  • Small compressors — piston and screw compressors for dental offices and small pneumatic systems. A VFD maintains precise receiver pressure.
  • Woodworking machinery — drilling, milling, and grinding machines for carpentry workshops. Variable spindle speed expands machining capabilities.
  • Mixers and agitators — industrial mixing of solutions, paints, and food blends. Precise speed control keeps end-product quality stable.

How to Choose a 0.75 kW Variable Frequency Drive

Selecting the right VFD depends on several key parameters that determine compatibility with your equipment and power supply:

Supply Voltage: Single-Phase 220V vs Three-Phase 380V

For workshops and facilities without a three-phase supply, choose single-phase models (1x220V) — for example, Delta VFD007EL21A or Schneider ATV12H075M2. For industrial sites with 380V three-phase power — the corresponding three-phase versions. Note: a single-phase VFD always outputs three-phase voltage to the motor.

Ingress Protection Rating (IP)

For panel mounting, IP20 is sufficient. For installation in damp or dusty environments (pump stations, woodworking shops), choose IP55 or IP65. Some series, such as Delta VFD-EL-W or Danfoss iC2, offer models with enhanced protection ratings.

Control Mode: Scalar vs Vector

Scalar control (V/f) is the simpler and more affordable option for pumps and fans where high precision is not required. Vector control provides accurate torque and speed regulation needed for machine tools, conveyors, and compressors. Models like INVT GD20, Siemens SINAMICS V20, and Veichi AC70 support both modes.

Communication Protocols

For integration with automation systems (PLC, SCADA), verify the availability of interfaces: Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, CANopen, EtherCAT. Basic models include analog inputs (0-10V) and relay outputs, while advanced series (ABB ACS580, Schneider Altivar 320, Siemens G120) support industrial fieldbus protocols.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which motors are suitable for a 0.75 kW VFD?

A 0.75 kW VFD is selected for electric motors with a rated power of 0.75 kW when the motor current does not exceed the drive rated current. This size is commonly used for small pumps, fans, conveyors, mixers, and light machine drives.

Which input voltage should I choose: 220 V or 380 V?

If only single-phase 220 V power is available, choose a model with 1-phase 220 V input and 3-phase 220 V output for a compatible motor. For an industrial three-phase supply, choose a 3-phase 380 V drive. Always check the motor voltage and wiring diagram before ordering.

Do I need extra power reserve for a 0.75 kW drive?

For pumps and fans, selecting by the motor rated power and current is usually enough. For heavy starts, high-inertia loads, or frequent acceleration cycles, allow extra current reserve and consider a 1.1 kW model.

Can it control pump or fan speed?

Yes. A 0.75 kW VFD can smoothly adjust motor speed, acceleration, and stopping. It can also maintain pressure or flow when a sensor is connected and the PID controller is configured correctly.

How can I quickly choose the right model?

Prepare the motor nameplate data: power, voltage, rated current, number of phases, and load type. A Chastotnik.ua manager will select a compatible 0.75 kW VFD, check availability, and advise on the basic startup parameters.
