Inverters for Wells

Solar-powered well inverter: when it replaces grid and generator

Customers take a solar-powered well inverter when the grid at the well site is either unstable or simply not there. A typical customer this year: a farmer with a 50-120 m well for irrigating 1-5 ha, or a dacha owner with a 0.75-2.2 kW pump in a remote location. Instead of a diesel generator or a long cable across the field, we ship Veichi straight onto the PV array. No battery bank. No grid-tie inverter. Sun is up, water flows.

How it works. Solar panels deliver DC up to 850 V. The inverter with built-in MPPT holds the operating point at peak current insolation and converts to three-phase AC at 0-50 Hz. The pump motor spins exactly as much as sunlight reaches the array. Cloud passes: frequency drops, pump slows down but does not stop. Our warehouse most often ships Veichi SI30-SS2-1R5G-R 1.5 kW (single-phase 220 V input or PV 150-450 V, per the manufacturer datasheet).

First question we ask: well depth

Without that number selection is impossible. The short table we use in-house. Up to 30 m: 0.75-1.5 kW inverter + 5-8 panels of 550 W is enough. Typical residential dacha well. 30-80 m: 2.2-5.5 kW + 8-12 panels. Medium wells for private homes and small farms. 80-150 m: 7.5-15 kW + 16-24 panels. Deep wells for village water supply. 150-300 m: artesian, 18.5-55 kW, SI21 and SI23 series.

What else we ask before ordering. First: which pump (brand, power, single-phase 220 V or three-phase 380 V) – single-phase pumps go with SI30 in the SS2 modification, three-phase with SI21 or SI23. Second: pump flow in m³/h and the daily water demand – this decides whether 6-8 hours of daylight generation is enough or you need a larger array. Third: is there a grid line nearby – if yes, we take an inverter with the "PV + grid" mode (all Veichi series support it) so a cloudy day does not leave you without water. Warranty 2 years, shipping from Kyiv in 1-3 days.

For most domestic wells, we recommend the Veichi SI30-SS2 1.5 kW: a single-phase model with MPPT from 150V that operates from just 2–3 solar panels. For deep wells with a powerful pump, the SI30-D5 5.5 kW with IP65 protection and a wide 300–850V MPPT range is optimal.

Manufacturers of Inverters for Wells

Our catalogue features a brand with real sales and service support in Ukraine:

  • Veichi: a Chinese industrial electronics manufacturer with 25 years of experience. Three series for borehole pumps: SI30 (residential 0.75–11 kW, including single-phase SS2 models for 220V), SI21 (mid-range 0.75–30 kW). Also SI23 (industrial 37–200 kW). All models feature a built-in MPPT controller, dry-run protection. Both overload and short-circuit protection are built in.
