3 kW Variable Frequency Drive — for pumps, conveyors and industrial machinery
A variable frequency drive rated at 3 kW is a versatile size class for a wide range of industrial and commercial machinery. The nominal output current at three-phase 380V supply is 7.0–7.7 A; at single-phase 220V input it is 11–14 A. 3 kW VFDs are used to control pumps, fans, conveyors, mixers and woodworking machines.
How to choose a 3 kW VFD: supply, current, overload
The key rule is to select the drive by rated motor current, not just power. A 3 kW motor from different manufacturers can draw 6.5 to 8 A (380V) or 11–14 A (220V). The supply type determines the unit: single-phase models (220V in, 3-phase 220V out) suit small workshops without a three-phase line; three-phase 380V units are standard for industry.

For heavy-start mechanisms (crushers, presses, loaded conveyors) select a drive with 150% overload capacity for 60 s, or step up to a 5.5 kW unit. For pumps and fans, 110–120% overload suffices as they have light starting torque.
