Veichi SS70 soft starters: a budget line from 5.5 to 630 kW
Veichi is a Chinese drives manufacturer whose soft starter offering is a single series, the SS70. We stock 27 positions, current from 15 to 1100 A, power 5.5-630 kW at 400 V. Supply is 380 V, so the series is built exactly for our grid with no transitional versions.
We pick the SS70 when budget is tight and the duty is ordinary: pump, fan, conveyor, mid-power compressor. On price it is the most affordable soft starter line we carry across the whole power range. The SS70-008-40 at 22 A costs UAH 24,525, the SS70-110-40 at 200 A is UAH 98,820, and the larger frames up to 630 kW come to order. For comparison, European units at the same current usually cost one and a half to two times more.
When the SS70 is the wrong choice
We will be blunt. If the start is genuinely hard (crusher, ball mill, piston compressor with high breakaway torque), look at the Danfoss MCD500 or Schneider ATS48, which offer adaptive torque control. If the unit has to report into SCADA over a fieldbus, a European line is again the better call. The SS70 is strong in standard duties needing reliable ramping without surplus features.
What we ask before quoting
Nameplate motor current, load type, starts per hour, cabinet temperature. That last one gets forgotten most often, which is a shame: above 40 °C inside the enclosure derating kicks in, and the frame size has to go up after the fact, once the equipment is already bought. We hold the series manual and catalogue and send them with the invoice. The whole series sits on the SS70 page, with everything else in the soft starter catalogue.
