7.5 kW VFD: when to take it, when 5.5 kW is enough

7.5 kW units we ship for 7.5 kW 380 V motors with Imax around 16-17 A. Typical customer this year: borehole and irrigation pumps, supply/exhaust ventilation 5000-8000 m³/h, screw compressors 1.0 m³/min, mid-length conveyors. On 5.5 kW these jobs trip on overload at compressor start or auger jam. Note: for quadratic load (fan, centrifugal pump) 5.5 kW sometimes works; for constant torque it does not.

From the grid: input is always 3-phase 380 V (single-phase 7.5 kW barely exists in the wild, exception is rare models like Veichi AC310-T/S2-7R5G-B with built-in rectifier, but we recommend 3-phase). Rated draw around 17 A, breaker 25 A C-curve, cable 2.5 mm² copper up to 30 m. Per datasheet: Veichi AC10-T3-7R5G-B holds 150% for 60 s (HD mode); enough for crusher or compressor shock load.

The question customers ask most. First: pump job or mechanical? For pumps we ship models with built-in PID and sleep mode (Veichi AC70, INVT GD200A). Second: braking resistor included? For a centrifuge or 7.5 kW drum without BR the drive trips on OU at stop within 2 seconds. Third: cable length to motor. Over 50 m a du/dt output filter is required; otherwise insulation breakdown in 1-2 years. 2-year warranty, 1-3 day delivery from our Kyiv warehouse.
