Siemens LOGO! 9: when to pick the new generation
We reach for LOGO! 9 when a project has more logic than LOGO! 8 could carry, yet a full S7-1200 is still too much. It is the same small-automation format — lighting, pump stations, ventilation, gates, greenhouses — but with doubled resources: 800 function blocks instead of 400, floating-point math, a colour touch display and a built-in web editor. Siemens presented the range in April 2026, and it is already on sale with us.
What that means in practice:
- 800 blocks — a complex scheme fits one controller, no splitting across two LOGO! units.
- Float math — 4.2 bar of pressure or 36.6 °C of temperature is handled directly, no integer scaling.
- Up to 64 DI / 60 DQ / 16 AI / 16 AQ locally, plus network exchange between several LOGO! 9 units.
- Secure boot and services on demand — protection out of the box for the CRA 2027 rules.
It is programmed in the free LOGO! Soft Comfort V9 (now on Windows, macOS and Linux), which also opens old LOGO! 8 projects. So the move is usually painless — the detail and a full spec breakdown are in our Siemens LOGO! 9 review.
Need to close a project today, or repeat an already installed controller? Alongside we keep the full LOGO! 8 catalogue — 30+ versions from UAH 3,832. Not sure which LOGO! 9 version fits your voltage and output type — write to us, we will match it against the datasheet and bring it in.
