Solar Hybrid VFDs for Pumps: when we ship one instead of a regular inverter

A solar hybrid VFD is not a regular inverter with a battery, it is a frequency drive with a DC input for solar panels and a built-in MPPT. The pump motor runs directly from the PV array; when sunlight drops, the drive switches over to 220 V or 380 V mains by itself. We ship Veichi SI23 at 4-7.5 kW with Grundfos SQF or Pedrollo 4SR pumps and a 5.5-11 kW PV array. The MPPT algorithm holds peak pump output through variable cloud cover, with no batteries. On our 2024-2025 sites, these systems pay back in 2-3 seasons against a diesel generator.

Drinking water supply with grid backup

Schneider Altivar 320 Solar up to 15 kW, with certified STO for critical systems. We ship this where guaranteed water delivery is required: a farm, a hotel, a workshop. Solar/grid switching is automatic, no emergency stops.

How to count the panels

Simple rule: PV array must be 1.3-1.5× the rated VFD power. A 4 kW inverter: 5.2-6 kW array, roughly 12-14 panels at 450 W each. Exact count depends on regional irradiance (southern Ukraine outputs more than Polissia) and panel tilt. We work this through with the customer before the order.
