15 kW VFD: where we ship it and when 18.5 kW makes more sense
The 15 kW size in our warehouse is the next step up from 11 kW. Rated current 32-33 A on three-phase 380 V. There are no single-phase options at this power: input current is too high for a 220 V household line. Typical customer this year: a pumping station with a centrifugal field-irrigation pump, an air compressor in a wood shop, or the drive motor of a 30 m belt conveyor. Sales leader over 12 months: Veichi AC10-T3-015G-B (14 units sold), scalar control.
If you have a pump or fan with frequent starts, or you need PID for pressure control, we ship Veichi AC310-T3-015G/018P-B (8 units). The two-number name is not random. In G mode (Heavy Duty) it is a 15 kW drive for heavy starts at 150% / 60 s; in P mode (Pump/Fan) the same unit handles 18.5 kW of light load. So you pay for 15 kW yet on a pump you get 18.5 kW. Ask whether your start is light: then P mode is the right pick. Schneider Altivar 610 ATV610D15N4 is also in our stock, ordered less often (one sale per year). What we ask before ordering: start type and input wiring
First question. What you are spinning. Pump, fan: light start, AC310 in P mode or AC10 with current headroom. Screw, crusher, press: heavy start, G mode only (AC310 G or AC10), and we check whether you will need a braking resistor. Second question. What breaker is on the 380 V feed? At 15 kW the inrush current can reach 60-70 A, so the breaker should be at least 40 A type D or 50 A type C. A 32 A breaker will trip on start-up.
Third question. Do you need RS-485 / Modbus for SCADA? AC10 or AC310 has Modbus out of the box. The budget INVT GD20-015G-4 also has it, with fewer diagnostic registers. At 15 kW we always mount the unit in a cabinet with ventilation or air conditioning; basic IP20 of the stock models does not allow open mounting in a dusty workshop. Warranty: Veichi 24 months, Schneider 24 months. Delivery from our Kyiv warehouse takes 1-3 days. The unit weighs around 8-10 kg, we ship by Nova Poshta.
