About 90% of our orders run on 3-phase 380 V mains. Typical customer: workshop, pump station, service garage, farm. First question: which motor and what load
Read the motor's rated current off the nameplate (not the power, current is more accurate). The VFD's rated current must be equal to or greater than the motor current. For crushers, presses, piston compressors we add one power step because the start-up is heavy. By load type: a pump or fan has the quadratic torque-vs-speed law, so scalar V/f in ND mode is enough. Conveyor, extruder, hoist, crane mean constant torque: HD mode and vector SVC/FOC.
What else we ask. One: where the cabinet sits. A dusty plant calls for IP54/IP66 or a cooled enclosure; a clean room is fine with the base IP20. Two: which fieldbus. Modbus RTU is on every AC/GD series we carry, Profibus and EtherCAT live on the bigger Delta C2000 and ATV930. Three: will the drive run from a diesel generator (then size the generator at 1.5-2x the drive load). Warranty runs 12-24 months depending on the series.
