22 kW VFD: G-mode or P-mode, what 22/30 in the model name means
The 22 kW size in our warehouse is taken by customers moving from soft starters or auto-transformers to true variable speed without paying for the next power tier. Rated current 45-46 A on three-phase 380 V. There are no single-phase options at this power. Typical customer this year: a pumping station with two 11 kW centrifugal pumps in parallel, the main belt-conveyor drive at a quarry, or a compressor in a large workshop. Sales leader: Veichi AC310-T3-022G/030P-B (10 units in 12 months), vector with PID. The double name is intentional. In G mode it is a 22 kW drive for heavy starts; in P mode the same unit handles 30 kW of light load (pumps, fans).
The cheaper scalar option is Veichi AC10-T3-022G-B (8 units). Customers take it for open-loop motors where stable frequency is enough, for example dosing-pump drives. INVT GD200A-022G/030P-4 in our stock is the alternative to AC310 in the same G/P format. The budget pick is Simphoenix DX100-4T0220Q, ordered less often, with all the basic overload and phase-loss protections.
What we ask before ordering: G or P, cabinet, braking
First question. Is your load G-duty (Heavy Duty 150% / 60 s) or P-duty (Pump/Fan 110% / 60 s)? Crusher, screw, press, extruder: that is G. Pump, fan, centrifuge with slow ramp-up: that is P. On AC310-T3-022G/030P it is the same hardware, you just switch a menu parameter before start-up. On AC10 you pay for a fixed class, namely G. Second question. What cable arrives at the install point? At 45 A, copper 16 mm² is the minimum; at 70 A inrush, anything below a 63 A type-D breaker will trip on start.
Third question. Will you need a braking resistor? On 22 kW motors with high-inertia shafts, stopping without a resistor means an overvoltage trip in half a second. The AC10 or AC310 still has the braking module built in at this power (above 22 kW it becomes an external unit). We size the resistor by load inertia: ask us, we work it out together from the datasheet. On a wall without a cabinet, 22 kW does not survive: minimum IP54 cabinet with forced ventilation. Warranty: Veichi 24 months, INVT 24 months. Delivery from our Kyiv warehouse takes 1-3 days, the unit weighs around 12-14 kg, shipped via Nova Poshta.
