The usual reason is simpler: Altivar diagnostics, SoMove, documentation, and a predictable cabinet startup.

When Altivar 610 is not the right drive

We do not recommend Altivar 610 for positioning, cranes, or heavy conveyors where the ATV900 line is the right family. In those jobs, another Schneider Electric series may be more logical, or INVT / Veichi may be enough when the project does not specifically require Altivar.

Schneider Electric is usually chosen for sites with BMS, SCADA, or an older Altivar already in the cabinet. Predictability matters there. Before ordering we ask for a motor nameplate photo and a short mechanism description. That filters out 220/380 V, IP, and braking mistakes early.
