SEW MOVITRAC B (MC07) — standard inverter built around SEW geared motors

MOVITRAC B is the basic, economy tier of SEW-Eurodrive's drive range. A plain, dependable inverter with no excess: U/f control plus VFC sensorless vector mode, with up to 150% IN short-term and up to 125% IN continuous overload. People usually choose it where SEW geared motors are already installed and they need a like-for-like replacement or an extension of the same line. The range here spans 0.75 to 75 kW.

In our experience MC07B is not a "universal stock inverter" but a drive tied to the SEW ecosystem. If your conveyor, doser or agitator runs on a SEW gearmotor, MOVITRAC B fits natively by mounting, parameters and service. For a new site with no SEW lock-in it is often smarter to take our in-stock Veichi variable frequency drive — more on that below, honestly.

What MOVITRAC B suits

• Materials handling: roller tables, belt and bottle conveyors, rotary tables — MC07B's home turf alongside SEW gearmotors.
• Pumps and fans: booster pumps, supply/exhaust ventilation — VFC mode holds torque without an encoder.
• Dosers, mixers, turntables: simple drives where the built-in IPOS positioning and sequence control earns its keep.
• Single-phase 230 V supply: for workshops and sites without three-phase — but only up to 2.2 kW, which is the single-phase ceiling for MC07B.

Worth knowing before you buy

SEW typically builds the integrated EMC filter into the smaller frames (roughly up to 11 kW). On the larger 3-phase frames the filter is often a separate item — check the configuration of your specific MC07B so you pass EMC on site. Fieldbus (PROFIBUS, CANopen, EtherCAT, Modbus, PROFINET) on MOVITRAC B is mostly delivered through plug-in gateway modules rather than on-board. A braking resistor/chopper is, as a rule, also a separate line item — budget for it up front.

MOVITRAC B or Veichi — short and honest

The takeaway is simple: for existing SEW equipment, take MOVITRAC B — less hassle on replacement and service. For a new pump, fan or conveyor with no SEW tie-in, our Veichi is usually the better value: Modbus right away, built-in PID on AC310, and delivery from stock.

When MOVITRAC B is NOT the right pick

• You need Modbus RTU for SCADA without buying a gateway — look at Veichi AC310.
• A single-phase job above 2.2 kW — there is no higher single-phase MC07B, you need a three-phase supply.
• Above 75 kW or heavy crane duty beyond the MOVITRAC B band — that is MOVIDRIVE or a heavy-duty inverter class.
