Veichi: what kind of brand it is and where it fits in industrial automation

Veichi Electric is a Chinese company from Shenzhen, founded in 2005. Its product range is broader than that of most drive-equipment suppliers in Ukraine: not only variable frequency drives, but also solar power (pump inverters, hybrid inverters, panels, batteries), servo drives, industrial robots with a full set of drives and gearboxes, soft starters, and operator panels. Tier: a sensible budget-to-mid level — cheaper than Schneider, ABB or Siemens, roughly on par with INVT and Delta in price and features.

An honest description of Veichi is a solid mid-tier brand that does not pretend to be premium. Documentation is detailed, firmware is available, there is an official service centre and spare parts in Ukraine, and the range covers more tasks than many competitors in the same class. Veichi is the right choice when you need a working solution for a specific task at a reasonable price, and the project specification does not strictly demand a European-only brand. If the project follows corporate standards and an analogue will not pass review, that calls for Schneider Electric, ABB or Siemens, and we say so directly. For a typical pump, conveyor, fan or solar pumping system, Veichi covers the task fully.

Variable frequency drives

Useful material on setup for typical tasks: irrigation station on AC310, AC310 for an extruder, AC310 for a crane, pump operation from a generator with a pressure switch, setup for a compressor on grid and generator. Before ordering we ask: motor power, load type (constant or variable torque), whether operation from a generator or solar panels is required.

Veichi solar power: which solution when

This is the strongest part of the Veichi range for the Ukrainian market. For the conditions of 2024-2026 — rolling blackouts, the need for off-grid irrigation and backup power — Veichi offers three different classes of solution, and it is important not to confuse them.

A solar pump inverter (SI30, SI21, SI22, SI32, SI23) is a pump drive powered directly from PV modules, without batteries. It pumps while there is sun; many models can switch to grid or generator in cloudy weather. Suitable for field irrigation, filling storage tanks, farm water supply. Small-to-medium systems — SI30/SI21 series (0.7-11 kW), large ones — SI23 (37-200 kW). Paired with them — SIxV pump equipment and VCS panels 400-630 W.

A hybrid inverter with batteries (VH, SI series plus LiFePO4 batteries 51.2 V) is backup power for a home or a small site: it runs from the grid, charges the batteries, and when the grid drops it powers the load from batteries and solar. Application overviews: powering an apartment with a Veichi hybrid inverter, Veichi SIS-5K-H hybrid inverter. If the task is keeping the fridge, the boiler and a few sockets running during a blackout, that belongs here, not with a pump inverter.

An ordinary VFD for a pump (AC10, AC70, AC310 with a pressure switch) — if the supply is stable or a generator is available, and solar panels are not needed. Cheaper than a pump inverter, but without MPPT and direct operation from PV modules.

No spin: the choice is driven not by a wish for solar, but by the actual task — what is being pumped or powered, what it is powered from, how many hours a day it must run. With those details, our manager will select the right class and series.

Veichi servo, robots, soft starters

Servo drives. The SD600, SD700, SD710 series — servo drive plus servo motor for tasks that need precise positioning and fast response: machine-tool axes, material feed in packaging machines, coordinated motion. SD600 is the basic economy series; SD700 is the main working line with a wider torque range and higher-resolution encoders; SD710 is for dynamic applications. Servo is chosen over a VFD with an induction motor when you need to hold a position to within arc-minutes rather than just spin at a given speed; and over a stepper motor when feedback and torque at high speed are required.

Industrial robots. Veichi supplies not only the robots themselves but the entire drive set for them — convenient for production-line integrators. Robots: SCARA (VCSH) for fast pick-and-place and assembly, 6-axis manipulators (VCR) for welding, machine tending, palletizing; cobots (VCC, VCRC) for working alongside people; palletizers (VCP, VCRP). With them — servo drives (SD100, SD200, RB100/200/300, FT1, ECH) and PG planetary gearboxes. Overviews: the Veichi robot range, choosing a VCSH SCARA robot.

Soft starters. The SS70 series — when you need to smoothly ramp a motor up and down (remove water hammer in a pump, jerk on a conveyor, or compressor inrush current), but you do not need to regulate speed during operation. Cheaper than a VFD, but without energy savings or speed control. If speed needs to vary or you want to save energy on a pump or fan, you need a VFD AC10/AC70, not a soft starter. Field notes: where Veichi truly fits, and where it is overpaying

From our experience Veichi is a predictable mid-tier brand: a working solution without surprises, as long as you stay within its class. What to keep in mind:

Thermal regime. Like any drive at this price level, Veichi does not like a dusty cabinet without ventilation or running at the edge of the frame size. On pumps, fans, conveyors, solar pumping systems and simple lines where there is power headroom and proper cooling, it runs for years, with failures at the level expected for the class. Newer revisions (AC310, SD700, SS70) in production are noticeably more stable than older series — when there is a choice, take the current revision.

Where Veichi fits. Pump groups (ordinary and solar), fans, conveyors, mid-power extruders, packaging equipment, machine-tool servo axes, production lines with robots, home backup power. Here Veichi delivers what more expensive brands do, for less money, and paying extra for a name on the nameplate is not justified.

Where to consider a more expensive brand. A crane or other critical hoisting equipment running three shifts, a project under corporate standards with mandatory review, infrastructure that requires spare-parts availability for 10+ years, an ecosystem where the drive, PLC and HMI must come from one large manufacturer. In such cases we honestly recommend Schneider Electric, ABB or Siemens — not because Veichi is bad, but because the project requires a different level of service predictability.

What to check before buying Veichi in Ukraine

The checklist we go through with the customer:

1. The right product line and series for the task. Not Veichi, but specifically: AC10 or AC310 for a VFD; SI30 or SI23 for a solar pump inverter; VH for a hybrid; SD600 or SD700 for servo; SS70 for a soft starter. Different classes, different prices.

2. Overload class for the VFD. For constant-torque mechanisms (conveyors, cranes, extruders) you need a drive with higher overload capacity — otherwise protection trips before the mechanism reaches operating speed. For pumps and fans the standard rating is enough.

3. For solar systems — component compatibility. A pump inverter is selected for the pump power; the number and type of VCS panels — for the inverter's input voltage and current range. For a hybrid system, the VH inverter and the LiFePO4 batteries must be compatible in voltage and BMS protocol. This is a separate check and easy to miss.

4. A braking resistor for inertial loads. For cranes, centrifuges, frequent braking, this is a separate item — it gets forgotten in the specification. In the AC310 series the braking transistor is already built in, but the resistor must be sized separately.

5. Service and spare parts. Veichi equipment that we supply carries a 24-month warranty through the official Veichi service in Ukraine. For high-volume series (AC10, AC310, SS70, SD700) spare parts are available quickly; for rare items lead times are longer — check with your manager.

6. Stock availability. High-volume VFDs AC10/AC310/AC70, the SS70 soft starter, SI30 solar inverters, VCS panels are mostly in stock; rare frame sizes, large SI23, individual robot series — to order, allow a few days for delivery.

7. Documentation. Before installation, pull the manual for your specific series revision from veichi.com: in Veichi VFDs there can be differences in parameters and default command-channel settings between sub-versions.

Veichi for specific scenarios

A pump station with pressure maintenance. A VFD AC10 or AC70 with a built-in PID controller plus a pressure sensor — the drive holds the system pressure and enters sleep mode when there is no draw. With several pumps — the AC70 series with a cascade function. For operation from a generator or inverter — per the guide setup for a pressure switch.

A solar irrigation or water-supply system. A solar pump inverter SI30/SI21 (small-to-medium) or SI23 (large agriculture) + an SIxV pump + VCS panels. It pumps while there is sun; in cloudy weather some models switch to grid or generator. A separate example: an agricultural solution on VEICHI SI23.

Home backup power during outages. A hybrid inverter VH + LiFePO4 batteries + panels (optional). When the grid drops, it powers the critical load from batteries and solar. Examples: powering an apartment, Veichi SIS-5K-H.

Conveyor modernization. If you need a soft start without speed regulation — SS70. If you need throughput control or reversing — a VFD AC10/AC70; for long heavy conveyors with constant torque, take AC310 with the appropriate overload class.

A machine-tool axis on servo. A servo drive SD700 with a matching servo motor for feed, a low-power spindle or a positioning axis; SD600 — if dynamic requirements are moderate and price matters; SD710 — for highly dynamic tasks.
