VC5-3232MAT-16 is a VC5 CPU with expanded local I/O: 32 digital inputs, 32 transistor outputs, 220V AC supply, EtherCAT rated for up to 16 axes. Twice the points right on the CPU compared with the 1616 variant — handy where there are many sensors and valves next to the CPU and you'd rather not add expansion modules straight away. Full port set: 8 pulse channels at 200kHz, two serial ports, USB, CANopen, Ethernet, EtherCAT.

Typical applications:

• Machine with dense local logic plus 16-axis coordinated motion.
• Machining center with many limit switches, valves, and a few servos.
• A line station where it pays to keep I/O on the CPU rather than over the bus.

Note: it differs from VC5-1616MAT-16 only in local I/O volume (32/32 vs 16/16) — axes, ports, and bus are the same. If you need fewer local points, VC5-1616MAT-16. If you need more axes, VC5-3232MAT-32 or VC5-3232MAT-48.

Veichi VC5 — flagship EtherCAT motion controller

VC5 is the top of the VC line. This is the case where a PLC and a motion controller live in one box: up to 200,000 program steps, a fastest cycle of 250µs, and axis synchronization to ±80ns over EtherCAT. We reach for it when you need to move many axes in a coordinated way — from eight to several dozen — with linear and circular interpolation, electronic cam, and electronic gear. If your machine lives by motion rather than just toggling relays, this is your tier.

The main reason to choose VC5 is deterministic motion over the bus. A single EtherCAT cable ties servo drives and distributed I/O into a rigid topology where every axis is computed in the same cycle. You still keep 8 pulse channels at 200kHz in and out, built-in Ethernet (Modbus-TCP), CANopen, RS232/485, and USB-C for commissioning. Programming is LD, SFC, FBD.

What tasks VC5 fits

• Multi-axis machine tools and machining centers: coordinated head motion, synchronized feeds, path interpolation.
• High-speed packaging and filling: flying cut-off, rotary knives, conveyor-to-actuator sync via electronic cam.
• Winding, printing, converting: master-slave axis via electronic gear, tension and registration control.
• Assembly lines and manipulators: XY/XYZ platforms where several servos must hold one motion.

How VC5 differs from neighbouring series

In practice it goes like this: if you only need pulse positioning, VC3 is enough — there's no point paying for EtherCAT. As soon as you have many axes that must move together, that's VC5. And when you need CODESYS and a very high axis count, look toward VH600.

When VC5 is NOT the right fit

• You only need logic or simple positioning without a bus — take VC3 or VC1 and don't overpay for EtherCAT.
• You need even more axes or the CODESYS environment — that's the VH500/VH600 tier.
• You work inside another brand's ecosystem — compare with Delta or Fatek.

Our experience with VC5

People buy VC5 for a specific motion project, not as a spare, so demand is steady and to the point. The typical buyer question is how many axes are actually needed: the model is chosen exactly by the axis count of the variant (-8/-16/-32/-48), and we'd advise a small margin, since growing over the bus is cheaper than swapping the platform. Alongside, on the same machine, customers often add Veichi VFDs and operator panels.
