ABB ACS150, ACS180, ACS580: a Swiss drive we ship for high-stakes installations
Customers buy ABB from us mostly for tenders and projects where the technical brief explicitly requires a European brand. Over the past 12 months our movers were ACS180-04S-09A4-4 at 4 kW (4 units), ACS150-03E-08A8-4 at 4 kW (3 units), and one big ACS580-01-145A-4 at 75 kW. Commercially this is a tough sell. Price is 2-3x higher than Chinese drives, but on tenders that is often not an alternative.
The catalogue covers six series. ACS150 up to 4 kW (compact). ACS180 up to 22 kW (workhorse). ACS480 up to 22 kW (built-in STO for machine safety). ACS580 up to 90 kW (pumps and HVAC). ACS880 up to 110 kW (proprietary DTC, for cranes). ACQ80 up to 315 kW (water sector). We stock mostly ACS180 and ACS580. The rest we order in: 2-4 weeks lead time from ABB's European warehouse. ABB VFD Series
ACS150 — Compact Series for Low Power
20 models, 0.4–4 kW. Single-phase and three-phase supply. Built-in PID controller, compact enclosure. For small pumps, fans, and conveyors in small enterprises.
ACS180 — General-Purpose Series
17 models, 0.75–22 kW. Three-phase 380 V supply, sensorless vector control. Easy installation and commissioning with minimal external components.
ACS480 — Series with Advanced Safety Functions
13 models, 0.75–22 kW. Built-in STO (Safe Torque Off) safety functions. For machinery and automated lines with functional safety requirements.
ACS580 — Series for Pumps and Fans
10 models, 0.75–90 kW. Built-in pump/fan V/Hz mode, Modbus RTU/TCP. Water supply, HVAC, and municipal infrastructure.
ACS880 — Flagship Series for Heavy Industry
36 models, 0.75–110 kW. Direct Torque Control (DTC — ABB proprietary technology), 200% overload for 2 s. For cranes, hoists, extruders, and compressors.
ACQ80 — Dedicated Series for Pumping Applications
27 models, 0.75–315 kW. Designed specifically for water supply and wastewater: built-in PID, water hammer protection, automatic pump switching, Ethernet.
