131F5449 — a Danfoss FC-102 (VLT HVAC Drive) rated 55.0 kW on a three-phase 380V supply, 106 A rated current. It is an HVAC inverter: tuned for pumps, fans and compressors in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. Like the rest of the FC-102 series it has a built-in EMC filter and, unlike the basic FC-101, supports pump cascade control and Fire Mode.

Danfoss FC-102 (VLT HVAC Drive) — a dedicated drive for ventilation, pumps and compressors

FC-102 is not a do-everything universal drive. It is an HVAC inverter: Danfoss tuned it for pumps, fans and compressors in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. Within the Danfoss range this is the senior HVAC series: unlike the basic FC-101, it adds a built-in cascade controller, Fire Mode and a real-time clock. If the job is an AHU, a pumping station or a cooling tower on 380V, FC-102 handles it without a separate PLC.

What FC-102 is suited for

• Supply/exhaust ventilation (AHU): fans in malls and office buildings. Per Danfoss, the Automatic Energy Optimization (AEO) function saves roughly 5–15% at part load.
• Pumping stations: the built-in cascade controller runs one pump on the drive and stages the rest as fixed-speed — a multi-pump station with no extra controller.
• Cooling towers, circulation loops, HVAC compressors: where smooth variable-torque control matters more than heavy overload.

How FC-102 differs from the basic FC-101

Our take: FC-101 is chosen for a simple single pump or fan where budget beats features. FC-102 pays off where there is a pump cascade, fire-safety requirements, or building-management integration.

Power and supply

We list a range from 1.1 to 315 kW, all on three-phase 380V (the 3×380–480V class). Rated current rises from 3 A on the smallest model to 588 A at 315 kW. A built-in EMC filter is present across the range.

When FC-102 is NOT the right pick

• An ordinary machine tool with constant torque and high dynamics — that is more a job for the AutomationDrive FC-302 than for an HVAC series.
• A single-phase 220V supply — this range is 3×380 only; see single-phase inverters.
• One simple pump or fan on a tight budget where cascade and Fire Mode are not needed — as a budget 380V alternative we offer the Veichi AC310 with built-in PID and Modbus. To be honest: the AC310 does not replicate Fire Mode, native BACnet, or EN16798 SFP monitoring — those are Danfoss strengths.
