R912005338 (factory code FVCA01.2-18K5-3P4-MDA-LP-NNNN-02VRS) — Rexroth Fv rated 18.5 kW, three-phase 380 V, 39 A rated current, IP20. The upper part of the mid-power range: large pumps, trunk ventilation, crushers. This is the first Fv frame where the braking unit is no longer built in.

Bosch Rexroth Rexroth Fv — previous-generation general-purpose frequency inverter

Rexroth Fv (factory designation FVCA01.2) is a solid general-purpose Bosch Rexroth drive from the older Fe/Fv generation that preceded today's EFC 3600 and VFC 5610. In our catalogue the line spans 0.7 to 90 kW, three-phase 380–480 V supply, IP20 housing for cabinet mounting. It is an asynchronous-motor drive for ordinary machines, pumps and fans — not a servo and not a PM-motor controller. Today Fv is mostly requested as a replacement on equipment where it was originally fitted.

Where Rexroth Fv fits

• Pumps and fans: boosting, HVAC, with a constant water-pressure mode — typical duty for a drive of this class.
• Machine tools and general machinery: where Rexroth was the original fit and you want to keep the same control architecture.
• Conveyors, mixers, simple transport lines: a smooth ramp and speed control instead of direct-on-line starting.

Per the manual, Fv handles not only scalar V/f (linear, square, multi-point) but also vector control, including closed-loop with an encoder. So it is also usable where you need steady torque from low frequencies — though this is an older hardware platform.

Braking and EMC — two points people mix up

Fv has an important nuance that sets it apart from other Bosch Rexroth series: an integrated brake chopper is fitted as standard only up to 15 kW, while from 18.5 kW upwards the braking unit is mounted externally (per the FVCA01.2 manual). So for models from 18.5 kW with frequent braking (centrifuges, cyclic stops) budget an external braking module and resistor — do not assume it is already inside. On EMC: we do not confirm a built-in mains filter — per the documentation the Fv filter is an external option. If the site requires conducted-emissions compliance, plan an external filter.

How Fv differs from newer Rexroth series

Honest conclusion: Fv is a compatible replacement on whatever already runs on Rexroth Fv. If you are building a new system from scratch, it is probably more sensible to look at the current generation or another in-stock brand.
