Bosch Rexroth Converter Fe 0.75 kW (FECG02.1-0K75-3P400)

The smallest model in the FEC series: 0.75 kW output, three-phase 380–480 V supply, rated current about 2.5 A, IP20 cabinet housing. It is a drive for small pumps, fans and conveyors that need a smooth start and asynchronous-motor speed control.

Control is scalar V/f with a built-in PID controller (handy to hold pressure or flow without an external controller). Maximum output frequency is up to 400 Hz. The brake chopper is built in at this frame size (the FE series fits it as standard up to 15 kW), so for dynamic braking you only add an external resistor.

Communication is Modbus RTU as standard; PROFIBUS, CANopen and EtherCAT are a build option — confirm the part number. We do not confirm a built-in mains EMC filter — per the documentation it is an external option. If you need a current in-stock drive for the same duty, compare with Veichi AC10.

Converter Fe (factory designation FECG02.1, Rexroth FEC line) is a simple, reliable Bosch Rexroth frequency inverter for ordinary asynchronous motors. In our catalogue the series is represented by the smaller 0.75 and 1.5 kW models with three-phase 380–480 V supply and an IP20 housing for cabinet mounting. It is a workhorse drive for pumps, fans and conveyors — no servo-grade pretensions, but with everything needed for a smooth start and speed control.

Where Converter Fe fits

• Pumps and fans: boosting, HVAC, smoke extraction — per the manual it has a built-in PID controller to hold pressure or flow.
• Conveyors and simple transport lines: a smooth ramp instead of direct-on-line starting, easier on the mechanics.
• Replacement on Rexroth machines: where Fe was the original fit and you want to keep the same architecture and Modbus link.

Control: an honest take

Per the Rexroth FE manual the series runs scalar V/f control (with adjustable voltage-frequency curve). That is the classic control for pump, fan and conveyor duty. There is no closed-loop encoder vector control here — if you need stiff torque from zero speed or positioning, this is not the platform. For typical variable-torque work, though, Fe is right at home, and with a built-in PID on top.

Braking and EMC — two points worth checking

The brake chopper in the FE series is built in up to 15 kW, while from 18.5 kW the braking unit is mounted externally (per the DOK-RCON01-FE manual). Both of our models (0.75 and 1.5 kW) sit well inside the built-in chopper range, so for dynamic braking you just connect an external braking resistor. On EMC: per the documentation the mains filter for the FE series is an external option (Accessories section). We do not confirm a built-in filter — if the site requires conducted-emissions compliance, plan an external EMC filter and confirm the part number.

Communication and control

As standard Converter Fe carries a Modbus RTU (RS-485) interface — handy for SCADA integration. PROFIBUS, CANopen and EtherCAT are available as a build option per the documentation, so if you need a specific bus, confirm the part number. Local control is via a keypad with digital display.

Honest verdict and alternative

Converter Fe is a tidy legacy drive for like-for-like replacement, or for simple V/f duties.
