The series runs in two modes: V/Hz and sensorless (open-loop) vector with autotune. But for pumps, fans, conveyors and simple machine tools, sensorless vector gives smooth speed regulation and solid starting torque. Maximum output frequency is up to 400 Hz, with overload of 150% for 60 s (and 200% for 3 s).

Key feature — built-in brake transistor

A handy PowerFlex 40 feature engineers value: the brake transistor (brake chopper) is integral on all ratings. In practice that means you do not need a separate braking module for dynamic braking — just connect a low-cost external brake resistor. Communications and integration

Every drive has a built-in RS-485 port supporting DSI / Modbus RTU.
