The usual reason is simpler: Altivar diagnostics, SoMove, documentation, and a predictable cabinet startup.

When Altivar 310 is not the right drive

We do not recommend Altivar 310 for a long motor cable without an EMC plan or a machine that needs safety and fieldbus options. In those jobs, another Schneider Electric series may be more logical, or INVT / Veichi may be enough when the project does not specifically require Altivar.
