DR-30-24 Power supply Mean Well DR 30 W 24 V

DR-30-24 is a single-output Mean Well DR-series switching power supply rated at 36 W with 24 V DC output and 1.5 A nominal current. The universal single-phase 85-264 V AC input lets it run from a regular 220 V mains or a sagging line without range switching. It mounts on a standard 35 mm DIN rail, uses a metal case with fan-less convection cooling, and an IP20 rating for in-cabinet installation. Efficiency is about 83 %, operating temperature -20 to 60 °C, with overload, short-circuit and over-voltage protections on the output. The output voltage is trimmable via a potentiometer.

Mean Well DR — entry-level DIN-rail switching power supplies for the control cabinet

DR is the classic workhorse line of Mean Well power supplies for the standard 35 mm DIN rail — the series that equipped thousands of Ukrainian automation cabinets. It covers a power range from 15 to 120 W in the three most-used DC voltages: 12 V, 24 V and 48 V. These are single-output converters with a universal single-phase input of 85–264 VAC (88–264 V on the larger models), so they run equally well from a 220 V mains or from a sagging, unstable supply line without any range switching.

Mechanically each unit is a compact metal-housed block with convection (passive) cooling — no fan, which means no point of mechanical wear and no acoustic noise. Ingress protection is IP20: the supply is designed for mounting inside an electrical cabinet, where it is shielded from dust and moisture. The DIN-rail clip lets you pack DR units tightly next to circuit breakers, relays and terminal blocks without extra mounting plates.

Model range and key parameters of the DR series

• DR-15 — 15 W: 12 V / 1.25 A or 24 V / 0.63 A. The smallest size, for powering one or two sensors or relays.
• DR-30 — 24–36 W: 12 V / 2.0 A or 24 V / 1.5 A.
• DR-60 — 54–60 W: 12 V / 4.5 A or 24 V / 2.5 A.
• DR-75 — 76.8 W: 12 V / 6.3 A, 24 V / 3.2 A or 48 V / 1.6 A.
• DR-120 — 120 W: 12 V / 10 A, 24 V / 5 A or 48 V / 2.5 A. The top size in the series.

Efficiency across the series depends on the model and voltage and falls roughly between 76 and 85 %: the lower 12 V variants (DR-75-12) deliver about 76 %, while the 24 V and 48 V higher-power models climb to 84–85 %. These are typical figures for the entry segment without active power-factor correction — the DR series has no PFC, which is exactly what keeps it in the economy class.

Protections and operating conditions

DR units carry the standard Mean Well protection set: against overload, short circuit and over-voltage at the output, plus thermal protection. The output voltage can be trimmed with a potentiometer within a small range — handy when you need to compensate for the drop along a long line to the load.

• Operating temperature: the smaller models (DR-15, DR-30, DR-60) work from -20 to +60 °C; the larger ones (DR-75, DR-120) from -10 to +60 °C.

How DR differs from other Mean Well series

DR is the entry-level, most affordable choice. If you need a wider temperature range and higher efficiency in the same DIN-rail form factor, look at the HDR series (-30 to +70 °C, efficiency up to 90–91 %). When active power-factor correction is required to meet mains specifications, the NDR or higher-power MDR series is the answer. The DR series stays the optimal pick wherever you simply need to deliver 12/24/48 V reliably and inexpensively to standard logic, sensors and relays in a cabinet, with no special climate or PFC demands.
