Hitachi WJ200 — compact everyday VFD for machines and pumps, 0.4–15 kW

We reach for the WJ200 when the job needs a versatile drive tied to a specific machine, not just spinning a pump. Sensorless vector control with auto-tuning delivers 200% or more starting torque at low speed — exactly what a plain V/F drive lacks on a loaded conveyor or extruder. We stock 0.4–15 kW, with three-phase 3×380 V models (HF index) and single-phase 1×220 V input models (SF index). A dynamic braking transistor sits in every model, so a braking resistor connects directly with no separate module.

What the WJ200 fits

• Machines with shock starts: conveyors, crushers, extruders, mixers up to 15 kW — where V/F sags at start and vector mode holds torque.
• Pumps and ventilation: the built-in PID regulator holds pressure or flow without an external PLC; for typical pump duties that is usually enough.
• Sites without a three-phase grid: SF models run from a single-phase 220 V supply and output full 3×380 V — used on farms, wells and workshops with only a household phase.
• Simple automated cycles: the built-in EzSQ (PLC-like) logic runs small sequences inside the drive, no separate controller.

What sets the WJ200 apart

In short: the WJ200 is a workhorse machine drive with proper torque and built-in logic. The Delta MS300 plays in the same league on features. The Veichi AC10 is the pick when the task is simpler and budget matters more.

When the WJ200 is NOT the right fit

• If you need precise axis synchronization or CNC positioning, that is a servo drive job, not a general-purpose VFD.

Our experience with the WJ200

The WJ200 sells steadily here as a replacement for older Hitachi drives and for machines that need torque at start. The most common question is about the single-phase SF models — a customer wants to run a three-phase motor from a household supply, and the WJ200-SF covers that directly. Before ordering we always confirm motor current, not just kW: drive sizing follows current, because a machine's real load can differ from the nameplate.
