Bosch Rexroth EFC 3600 Frequency Converter

The EFC 3600 is the economy, compact frequency-converter family from Bosch Rexroth, covering 0.4 to 4 kW. Its philosophy is deliberately simple: scalar V/f control only (there is no vector mode here — sensorless vector arrived in the next-generation EFC 5610). For driving a pump, fan, conveyor or any straightforward constant- or variable-torque load, the EFC 3600 does the job reliably with minimal setup.

What matters in practice

• Brake chopper is built in as standard. The EFC 3600 has the integrated brake chopper as standard across the series range, so every model in this series (up to 4 kW) ships with the chopper on board. The braking resistor itself is an external accessory, sized separately for your inertia and stop cycle (resistor terminals are reserved on the power block).
• Two supply classes. The smaller units take single-phase 200-240V input (1AC 200V class) and deliver a 3-phase 220V motor output; the 4 kW top model takes 3-phase 380-480V (3AC 400V class).
• Max output frequency 400 Hz, V/f control with a user-definable V/f curve for special loads.
• Communication: a standard RS485 port running Modbus RTU (via the RS232/485 adapter). This is the series' base and only native interface — fieldbuses (PROFIBUS, CANopen, EtherCAT) are options/belong to the later x610 generation, so confirm the exact execution by part number.
• Protection class IP20 (cabinet mounting); no built-in PLC in this series — it offers a PID controller and fixed-speed steps.

Availability and alternatives

The EFC 3600 is largely a legacy line, so check stock and lead time by exact part number.
