HDR-60-24 Power supply Mean Well HDR 60 W 24 V

HDR-60-24 is a Mean Well DIN-rail power supply with a 24 V output at 2.5 A (60 W). It is one of the workhorses of the series for 24 V logic in mid-size automation: 2.5 A powers a PLC together with its I/O, relays and a group of sensors from a single source. It has a universal single-phase 85–264 V input, about 90 % efficiency, a full protection set with auto-recovery, fanless cooling and a −30…+70 °C range for unheated enclosures.

Typical applications:

• Primary 24 V source for a PLC and its I/O
• Powering a group of sensors, relays and actuator nodes
• Interface modules and intermediate boards of a mid system
• A compact 24 V source in a higher-draw cabinet

Mean Well HDR — ultra-slim DIN-rail power supplies for tight cabinets

HDR is Mean Well's range of compact switching power supplies built for direct mounting on a TS-35 DIN rail inside distribution boards and automation cabinets. The defining feature of the line is its ultra-slim housing: the smallest models occupy just 17.5 mm of rail width, so HDR fits where a conventional supply simply will not. The series spans 15 to 100 W in three standard output voltages — 12, 24 and 48 VDC — covering the vast majority of low-voltage automation power tasks.

Every HDR model runs from a single-phase mains with a universal input range of 85–264 VAC (and 120–370 VDC as well), so the same unit works equally for 110 V and 230 V networks with no switching. That is convenient for export equipment and sites with unstable voltage. Efficiency ranges from 85 to 91 % depending on the model: the small 15 W units deliver 85–87 %, while the higher 24 V and 48 V models reach 90–91 % — a strong figure for fanless convection cooling that keeps internal cabinet heat to a minimum.

HDR model range

• HDR-15 (15 W): HDR-15-12 — 12 V / 1.25 A, HDR-15-24 — 24 V / 0.63 A, HDR-15-48 — 48 V / 0.32 A. The narrowest housing, for small controllers and sensors.
• HDR-30 (24–36 W): HDR-30-12 — 12 V / 2.0 A, HDR-30-24 — 24 V / 1.5 A, HDR-30-48 — 48 V / 0.75 A.
• HDR-60 (54–60 W): HDR-60-12 — 12 V / 4.5 A, HDR-60-24 — 24 V / 2.5 A, HDR-60-48 — 48 V / 1.25 A.
• HDR-100 (90–100.8 W): HDR-100-12 — 12 V / 7.5 A, HDR-100-24 — 24 V / 4.2 A, HDR-100-48 — 48 V / 2.1 A.

Note that the actual output power of some models slightly exceeds the series rating — for example, HDR-100-24 and HDR-100-48 deliver up to 100.8 W, and HDR-30-24 reaches 36 W. This lets you keep a small current margin without stepping up to the next frame size.

Protections and operating conditions

HDR units include the full set of built-in switching-supply protections: against overload, short circuit, over-voltage and over-temperature. The output recovers automatically once the fault is cleared. The operating temperature range is −30 to +70 °C, which allows HDR to be installed in unheated boards, outdoor enclosures and sites that need a cold start in winter — the series is designed for industrial, not merely room-temperature, service.

• Enclosure protection class IP20: mounting inside a board or cabinet, with no direct exposure to dust or moisture.
• Convection cooling, no fan — no wearing moving parts and a longer service life.
• No active power factor correction (PFC) — the series targets low and medium power levels where PFC is not required by standards.

Typical applications

• PLC and controller power: HDR-30-24 and HDR-60-24 are the typical 24 V source for the logic of small and medium automation systems.
• Sensors and actuator modules: HDR-15 and HDR-30 power sensors, relays and interface boards where consumption is low and cabinet space is scarce.
• LED lighting and indication: 12 V and 24 V HDR units as drivers for LED strips and signalling panels.
• 48 V telecom and network gear: HDR-*-48 powers switches, radio modems and 48 V communication equipment.
• Distributed equipment: several inexpensive slim HDR units placed near the load instead of one large centralised source.

How HDR differs from other Mean Well DIN-rail series

Within Mean Well's DIN-rail offering, HDR is the most compact and most budget-friendly option for low power. If you need a more rugged industrial unit with higher reliability, a wider temperature margin and a power-good signal — look at the MDR, NDR or DR series. But if the task is to power 24 V logic, sensors or LEDs inexpensively and compactly in a space-constrained board, HDR is the optimal choice. For higher-power drive and control loads, consider the RSP series and similar lines.
