Industrial Lighting: Importance and Requirements
Industrial lighting, similar to domestic lighting, has a number of requirements that positively affect human activity and health. Quality industrial lighting increases efficiency, productivity, improves the quality of work performed, reduces workplace injuries, and decreases fatigue.
To achieve these goals, artificial lighting is used in enterprises, which, in combination with natural light, must meet certain standards.
Main Requirements for Lighting Fixtures in Enterprises
- Uniform lighting of the work surface. It is necessary to avoid glare.
- Use of reflectors. This helps to enhance the light flow.
- Even distribution of light intensity. This is achieved using special diffusion lenses.
- Adaptation to the characteristics of the illuminated space. Conditions such as increased humidity, dust accumulation, or aggressive environments are taken into account. The selection of fixtures must correspond to these conditions to create a comfortable working atmosphere.
Types of Industrial Lighting Fixtures
There are three main types of industrial lighting fixtures that differ by installation method and location:
- Celing fixtures. These fixtures are mounted directly to the ceiling and are usually used in rooms with low ceilings, such as storage rooms or staff rooms.
- Suspended fixtures. They are hung on straps that come down from the ceiling, allowing for adjustable installation height.
- Wall fixtures. Installed on the wall using special brackets. They are used for vertical lighting, for example, in display windows, on building facades, or for highlighting advertising banners.
Energy Savings with LED Fixtures
To save electricity used for lighting, LED fixtures can be equipped with special devices. For example, in rooms where constant lighting is not necessary, motion sensors can be installed. They turn on the lighting fixtures only when there is a person in the room.
The use of LED fixtures not only provides quality lighting for workspaces but also reduces electricity costs. Such fixtures require no additional maintenance, and their lifespan significantly exceeds that of other lighting devices.
