Veichi VI20 — HMI Operator Panel Series

The Veichi VI20 series is a range of graphic touchscreen operator panels (HMI) designed for visualization and control of industrial processes. VI20 panels are built on ARM Cortex-A8 processors running at up to 1 GHz, feature LED backlighting, and provide stable operation with DC 24V power supply (9–28V range). The series covers screen sizes from 4.3 to 15.6 inches, allowing selection of the optimal display for each specific automation application.

VI20 Series Technical Specifications

All VI20 models are graphic TFT panels with resistive touchscreen. Base models (suffix -F) support the Modbus RTU protocol through serial RS232/RS485/RS422 ports. Extended models (suffix -FE) additionally feature an Ethernet 10/100 Mbps port with Modbus TCP support, simplifying integration into networked SCADA systems. The flagship VI20-156S-FE is equipped with dual Ethernet ports, a Micro SD slot, and a metal enclosure rated IP65.

Key common specifications across the series:

  • Power supply: DC 24V (range 9–28V; 18–28V for the 15.6" model)
  • Interfaces: RS232, RS485, RS422 in various combinations
  • Protocols: Modbus RTU (base), Modbus RTU/TCP (with Ethernet)
  • USB: Type-C OTG (4.3") or USB Slave/Host 2.0
  • Processors: ARM 720 MHz (4.3"), Cortex-A8 600 MHz (7–10.1"), Cortex-A8 1 GHz (15.6")

VI20 Panel Applications

VI20 series panels are used to build human-machine interfaces in industrial automation systems: conveyor lines, pumping stations, HVAC systems, packaging machines, and CNC equipment. With Modbus RTU and TCP support, VI20 panels integrate seamlessly with variable frequency drives, PLCs, and other Veichi automation devices — including AC70, AC310, and SD700 series inverters.

The compact 4.3" model is suitable for small installations and control panels; 7-inch panels are a universal choice for most applications; 10.1" and 15.6" models are used for complex visualization systems requiring multiple screens and trend graphs.

Other HMI Panel Series

In addition to VI20, the catalog features other operator panel series for various requirements:

Warranty and Support

All Veichi VI20 operator panels come with a manufacturer warranty. We provide technical support for HMI selection, help with communication protocol configuration and integration with VFDs and PLCs. Delivery is available throughout Ukraine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an HMI panel and a PLC?

A PLC runs the automation logic, while the HMI shows the machine state and sends operator commands to the controller or VFD. If you need I/O and control logic, use a PLC. If you need a screen with buttons, alarms and setpoints, use an HMI.

Which HMI screen size should I choose for a control cabinet?

For a simple machine, 4.3-5.7 inches is usually enough. A 7-inch panel works well for pump stations, ventilation and small machines. Choose 10.1 inches or larger when the operator needs trends, recipes, alarm logs or several mimic screens.

Does an operator panel need Ethernet?

Ethernet is useful for Modbus TCP/IP, several controllers, remote service or connection to the plant network. If the panel is next to one VFD and communicates over RS-485, Modbus RTU is often enough.

Can an HMI be connected directly to a VFD?

Yes, if the VFD supports Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP and the register map is available. For Veichi drives we often check VI20 or VI30 panels because they fit Veichi-based control cabinets well.

What information is needed to replace an old operator panel?

Send the old panel part number, cutout size, supply voltage, port type, protocol and the project file if it is available. Without the project file, the screen project often has to be rebuilt.

Can you select an HMI for a specific PLC?

Yes. Send the PLC or VFD model, required screen size and communication method. We will check the ports and suggest the series that fits the project best.
