HMI panels: which one we pick for your VFD or PLC cabinet
An HMI is a touchscreen on the cabinet door where the operator reads alarms. Trends, alarm logs, setpoint changes go through it too. We ship them in three recurring scenarios. First: an integrator builds an automation cabinet for a boiler room or pump house, adds a 7" panel to the PLC. Second: a field tech adds an operator panel to a VFD on a press or HVAC unit, so nobody has to walk around with a laptop. Third: a dispatch console in the production hall with a 10-15" screen and several mimic diagrams.
We stock three workhorse brands. Delta DOP goes into projects already running on Delta PLCs or Delta servo (shared tag pool through DOPSoft, no manual Modbus mapping). Kinco is the budget Chinese option with 200+ third-party drivers — we ship it when the spec calls for cheap and brand-agnostic. Schneider Magelis for high-stakes sites and where the customer already runs a Schneider stack. We also keep Veichi VI20-070S-FE 7" — our default pair for Veichi VFDs.
Which screen size to bring to us
Our most-shipped diagonal is 7". That covers Delta DOP-B07E415, Veichi VI20-070S-FE, Kinco MT 7" series. Enough for 8-15 screens with trends, alarm log, recipes. If the job needs 20+ screens or a complex SCADA-style mimic, we move up to 10" (e.g. DOP-B10S615 or Kinco MT4522T). For tiny cabinets without graphics we ship the text Delta TP02G-AS1 3" — cheap, IP65 front, button-only control.
What we ask before quoting. First: which PLC or controller is in the cabinet (this drives the brand pick). Second: which communication port is free (RS-485, RS-232, Ethernet). Third: do you need IP65 front (dust, washdown, humidity). Fourth: ambient temperature (for hot installs like boiler rooms we pick extended-range models). 24-month warranty.
