Schneider Electric XBT Series (Magelis) Operator Panels

The XBT series from Schneider Electric is a comprehensive line of Magelis industrial operator panels covering a wide range of human-machine interface (HMI) solutions. From compact text displays for basic monitoring to full-color touchscreen panels with up to 15-inch diagonal, the XBT series addresses automation requirements at every level. The Chastotnik catalog features 29 XBT models available for delivery across Ukraine with full technical support.

XBT Sub-Series and Technical Specifications

The Magelis XBT lineup is divided into several sub-series based on display type and functionality:

Text Panels XBTN / XBTR / XBTRT -- cost-effective solutions with alphanumeric LCD displays ranging from 2.5 to 3.9 inches, with resolutions of 122x32 or 198x80 pixels. They support RS232 and RS485 interfaces with Modbus protocol. Designed for process parameter display, setpoint entry, and diagnostics. The XBTN400 model provides 4 lines of 20 characters, while the XBTRT500 offers 10 lines of 33 characters on an enlarged 3.9" screen.

Graphic Panels XBTGT (3.8"-5.7") -- touchscreen panels with 320x240 pixel resolution. Available in monochrome (STN) and color (TFT, up to 65,536 colors) versions. They support RS232, RS422, RS485, and Ethernet with Modbus and TCP/IP protocols. The XBTGT2330 model features a 5.7" TFT display with a full set of communication ports including USB host.

Graphic Panels XBTGT / XBTGK (7.5"-15") -- advanced models with resolutions from 640x480 to 1024x768 pixels, featuring color TFT displays with 65,536 colors. The XBTGT7340 model with its 15" diagonal and 1024x768 resolution is suitable for complex SCADA-like visualizations at production facilities.

Applications of XBT Magelis Panels

XBT series panels are widely used in industrial automation thanks to Modbus and TCP/IP protocol support and compatibility with Schneider Electric controllers (Modicon, Twido, Zelio). Key application areas include:

  • Process control -- parameter visualization for pumping stations, conveyor systems, and packaging equipment. Advanced XBTGT models with Ethernet enable integration into the plant-wide network.
  • Water treatment and HVAC -- text panels XBTN/XBTR are ideal for compact control cabinets managing boiler rooms, ventilation systems, and water treatment plants where numeric parameter display is sufficient.
  • Food and pharmaceutical industries -- graphic panels with IP65 front protection ensure reliable operation in high-humidity environments requiring regular equipment washdown.
  • Energy and infrastructure -- large 10.4"-15" panels serve dispatch control for substations, generator sets, and power distribution systems.

Other HMI Series in Our Catalog

In addition to the XBT series from Schneider Electric, we offer operator panels from other manufacturers: Delta DOP and Kinco. Each series offers its own advantages in terms of functionality-to-cost ratio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an HMI panel and a PLC?

A PLC runs the automation logic, while the HMI shows the machine state and sends operator commands to the controller or VFD. If you need I/O and control logic, use a PLC. If you need a screen with buttons, alarms and setpoints, use an HMI.

Which HMI screen size should I choose for a control cabinet?

For a simple machine, 4.3-5.7 inches is usually enough. A 7-inch panel works well for pump stations, ventilation and small machines. Choose 10.1 inches or larger when the operator needs trends, recipes, alarm logs or several mimic screens.

Does an operator panel need Ethernet?

Ethernet is useful for Modbus TCP/IP, several controllers, remote service or connection to the plant network. If the panel is next to one VFD and communicates over RS-485, Modbus RTU is often enough.

Can an HMI be connected directly to a VFD?

Yes, if the VFD supports Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP and the register map is available. For Veichi drives we often check VI20 or VI30 panels because they fit Veichi-based control cabinets well.

What information is needed to replace an old operator panel?

Send the old panel part number, cutout size, supply voltage, port type, protocol and the project file if it is available. Without the project file, the screen project often has to be rebuilt.

Can you select an HMI for a specific PLC?

Yes. Send the PLC or VFD model, required screen size and communication method. We will check the ports and suggest the series that fits the project best.
