Development of visualization and dispatching systems (SCADA)
SCADA System: Purpose and Tasks
The SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is designed for the collection, processing, and storage of information used by controllers and actuators. In the modern world, SCADA technologies are considered highly promising for automated control and dispatching of facilities. They have found applications in various fields, including industry, government structures, defense complexes, and the aerospace industry.
Main Tasks of SCADA Systems
The key tasks of SCADA systems include:
- Interaction with information obtained in real-time.
- Providing information exchange between input-output devices and the operated facility (actuator or controller).
- Supporting a database with technological information.
- Ensuring logical control.
- Monitoring emergency events and activating alarm signals.
- Interacting with spreadsheets, connected database management systems, and other external programs.
Interface and Elements of the SCADA System
Interaction with SCADA systems occurs through a special HMI (Human-Machine Interface). The connection of SCADA with meters, controller boards, and other devices is ensured through special driver programs. The system also includes a report generator, which stores data about technological events that occur.
Dispatching Design
The dispatching system consists of a set of software and hardware components that interact with each other. It should function so that the servicing personnel can promptly receive information about any technological changes. The development of SCADA in the context of dispatch design involves several stages:
- Determining the economic feasibility of the implemented solution.
- Identifying areas that require remote monitoring.
- Preparing a scheme for the functioning of the dispatching system.
During the development of the SCADA system, the documentation may undergo changes. Each modernization is checked for compliance with the requirements of economic and technological feasibility and is agreed upon with the customer. The price of SCADA software packages varies depending on the scale of the facility and the level of its technical equipment.
