SKN – Pump Control Cabinet

Pump control cabinets (SKN) are designed to ensure effective management of pumps in both manual and automatic modes. They can control up to six pumps simultaneously, with power ranging from 0.75 to 315 kW.

The pressure in the water supply pipeline and the level of liquid entering the storage tank are maintained at the required level using automatic sensors. It is important to note that control cabinets can be integrated into existing SCADA systems.

Purpose of SKN

Pump control cabinets are used in various industries, including:

  • chemical and food industry;
  • fire extinguishing and irrigation;
  • water treatment;
  • hot and cold water supply;
  • air conditioning, ventilation, and heating systems.

Key advantages of SKN:

  • multiple pump start options: relay (or direct), using PLC and VFD;
  • choice of control mode;
  • high resistance to failures;
  • informative system;
  • control over the pressure and inlet main;
  • simultaneous operation with pairs of analog sensors.

Functional Groups

Pump control cabinets can have different starting methods (automatic mode) – they can have soft or direct start. Regardless of this, all control systems must:

  • ensure reliable power supply with sufficient power reserve;
  • have a working algorithm adapted to each specific case;
  • pass testing for compliance with GOST standards and setup on special test stands.

Existing Control Algorithms

Pump control is implemented in one of two modes:

  • Manual control: provides forced starting of the pump or its testing;
  • Automatic control: starting or stopping of pumps is performed based on the difference between the current and set pressure in the manifold (pressure).

Starting of a backup pump is performed only in the case of a failure of the main one. Stopping the running pump is done by disconnecting it from the network.

Assembly and Testing

The assembly of the control station is carried out by qualified specialists who take into account the requirements of electrical safety regulations. Only reliable components are used.

Testing on certified stands includes verification of:

  • functionality and electrical safety;
  • compatibility with external devices;
  • stopping and starting the pump.

Maintenance and Technical Support

For the correct selection of necessary equipment, the following parameters should be considered:

  • durability and technical characteristics of the device;
  • quality and price;
  • completeness.

It is also necessary to consider the possibility of adjusting the equipment or providing technical support for the purchased device.
