Saving on a smoke exhauster with a frequency converter.

Modernization of Pellet Production EKOGRAN

In May 2015, the company "PROFDRIVE" carried out the modernization of the pellet production EKOGRAN, located in the city of Malyn. One of the key stages of the modernization was the installation of a frequency converter with a power of 160 kW on the smoke exhauster. Previously, the regulation of the air (smoke) flow was performed using dampers. The installed frequency converter - Converter Fe from the globally renowned manufacturer Bosch, ensures energy saving due to the optimally set curve for fan load.

The frequency converter was successfully integrated into the already existing dispatch system via the built-in RS-485 interface. It is impressive that the payback period for implementing the frequency converter was only 4 months! During operation, the speed of the motor varied between 38-42 Hz.

Advantages of Modernization

Thanks to the implementation of the latest energy-saving equipment, the company LLC "EKOGRAN" has been able not only to quickly recoup the costs of acquiring the frequency converter but also to reduce the cost of producing pellet granules. It is important to note that the preliminary calculations differed slightly from the actual indicators.

Control and Configuration

All commands for setting the frequency and turning the frequency converter on/off are carried out entirely from the dispatching computer. The operator has the opportunity to monitor:

  • output current;
  • voltage at the output of the frequency converter;
  • electric power consumed by the motor.

In case of emergencies with the converter or motor, the operator receives a malfunction notification. If there is a need to change the performance of the smoke exhauster (for example, when igniting the boiler or in operating mode with production performance changes), the operator can manually specify the required air flow.
