Concrete mix. Stages of the production process

Concrete and concrete mix are the most popular materials used in the production of reinforced concrete structures, residential building, as well as in bridge construction. Many people are familiar with the appearance of concrete mix, but not everyone knows how it is produced in enterprises.

Loading of inert materials

To manufacture concrete mix, the following components are needed: binding material (cement), coarse aggregate (gravel, crushed stone), fine aggregate (sand), water, and various additives.

The operator of the concrete mixing equipment loads the inert materials, which are stored in special open containers. Each type of material is separated by fractions. Cement is supplied from silos through pipes using a pneumatic system. Water is supplied through a pipeline. Dry additives are prepared by dilution to the required consistency in a liquid form.

Types of concrete mixing plants

Concrete mixing plants can operate in automatic, semi-automatic, or manual modes. The choice of mode depends on the model of the equipment.

In automatic mode, the operator inputs the class of concrete and its volume using the control panel, after which they press the "Start" button. The plant automatically loads all components into the concrete mixing drum, performs mixing, and discharges the finished product into a transport vehicle or hopper.

Semi-automatic equipment allows for a mixed operation: the loading and supply of each component are controlled by separate commands from the control panel, while mixing and unloading are done automatically.

In manual mode, the operator controls each stage of the preparation of the concrete mix, giving commands for the execution of each process.

Preparation of concrete mix

Before the materials are fed into the concrete mixing drum, they are weighed. Coarse and fine aggregates are loaded first, followed by their dry mixing. Cement is added next.

At the final stage, water and additives are supplied. Mixing of the components is carried out for a clearly defined time, as failure to comply with the instructions may lead to a decrease in the quality of the concrete mix, including strength, uniformity, and frost resistance.

Control over the production of concrete mix

The preparation of the composition is controlled according to strict parameters and consumption norms. The dosing of components is constantly adjusted depending on the characteristics of the inert components.

Throughout the entire production process, both the component ingredients and the finished concrete mix are monitored. Laboratory technicians conduct tests to identify low-quality products.

When purchasing concrete mix from the manufacturer, the consumer is required to receive a quality certificate that confirms compliance with established standards.
