Remote Access, Service and Monitoring for Industrial Robots and Cobots
Today, industrial robots are becoming not only tools for automation but also important components for enhancing safety in production and reducing costs. However, the growing popularity of such technologies leads to an increasing need for remote access, maintenance, and monitoring to minimize the downtime of automated systems.
We present IXON to you — a solution that allows remote access to industrial robots from any well-known brand. In this article, we will explore the main capabilities of our IoT platform as well as the functionality of the IXrouter gateway, so you can gain maximum flexibility in remote operations. Discover the simplicity of remote troubleshooting, monitoring, analysis, and programming through the IXON web platform and apps.
Universal Solution for Remote Access and Internet of Things for Industrial Robots
IXON offers an innovative solution for modernizing your industrial robots and cobots. With remote access and Internet of Things (IoT) functionalities, you will be able to easily manage and monitor your robots via the web platform.
By using Ixon Cloud, you will gain fast and secure access to your robots from anywhere in the world. Our monitoring panel allows you to configure secure access to connected components that are usually accessible via VNC or HTTP.
- Remote connection to the robot controller or PLC via VPN.
- Access to the robot's web server via HTTPS from a browser on a smartphone or tablet.
- Support for modern industrial protocols (Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA) for data collection.
- Configuration of alarm signals for operational response.
- Centralized user management for access control.
To connect your robots and cobots to IXON Cloud, you will need the IXrouter — an industrial VPN router that provides secure and convenient access to your system.
Internet of Things Connectivity for Industrial (Cobot) Robots
IXrouter is a border gateway that integrates your robot or cobot with IXON Cloud for secure remote access. The installation of IXrouter is straightforward, and each device includes free lifetime access to VPN/VNC and technical support.
How to Connect Your Robot / Cobot to IXON Cloud
To take advantage of the IXON Cloud features, you need to create a free company account and connect your industrial robots through IXrouter. In our video, you will find detailed instructions for connecting IXrouter to IXON Cloud in three simple steps.
Each industrial VPN router has four Ethernet ports for connecting to robots or other peripheral devices and one WAN port for Internet access.
Remote Control of Robot Teaching Pendant Display (HMI) via VNC
Using VNC, you can fully control the robot's teaching pendant display remotely via the IXON platform. Once the VNC connection is set up, IXON Cloud allows you to remotely view and adjust operational settings.
This enables complete control of the robot's HMI panel via your browser or mobile applications.
Data Logging for Robots
Cloud Data Logging is a service for collecting and securely storing data from your robot in IXON Cloud. You will be able to access this data through easy-to-use monitoring panels.
Configuring Data Collection from Your Robot in Ixon Cloud
To activate data logging in Ixon Cloud, set up data collection parameters using supported protocols (Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, Modbus/TCP). You can choose when to collect data — at intervals, during changes, or triggered by the user. After configuration, the data is processed by IXrouter.
The information from the robot is stored locally until Um factors are met, after which the data is transmitted to the cloud. In case of reconnection, the data is also uploaded.
This data can be visualized in monitoring panels and used for triggering emergency signals or integrating with APIs.
