Frequency converter: commissioning

After selecting and purchasing a frequency converter, it is important to perform installation and commissioning works. This is a critical stage that determines the reliability of the device in further operation. It is also necessary to approach the issue of delivery (transportation) of the frequency converter seriously, monitoring the integrity of the packaging during transportation and that of the product itself. If the factory packaging is damaged, unpacking and installing the converter may pose a risk.

Damage to the frequency converter can also occur during its unpacking, so this procedure should be carried out with utmost caution, supporting the device and avoiding its damage. In case of any damage to the frequency converter, it is necessary to urgently contact the seller to ensure that it is inspected by qualified personnel.

DC Choke

The DC choke can be built into the frequency converter or be a separate device. If the kit includes a DC choke, it is supplied assembled and fixed to a pallet. It should be unpacked in a certain order: first, take it out of the packaging while being careful when dismantling the choke. The installation of the DC choke should be done after the installation of the frequency converter and before its connection, following the instructions. If the kit includes a braking module (brake transistor), the installation of the choke is carried out after the installation of this module.

The DC choke is installed on top of the frequency converter or in the cabinet. After securing the choke, it should be connected to the appropriate terminals of the frequency converter, after which grounding between the inverter and the choke housing should be established. The final step is to install the cover on the device's housing and secure it with screws.

General recommendations for installing the frequency converter:image_alt_vfd

  • do not rush, as mistakes in installation can lead to breakdown of the mechanism;
  • during the installation of the inverter, be sure to control that moisture or conductive dust do not get inside;
  • carefully familiarize yourself with the connection and operation manual of the frequency converter, ensuring that the wire terminals are well crimped;
  • when installing the frequency converter, it is important to know that the input (to the network) terminals are usually marked L1-L3, and the output (to the motor) - U, V, W.

Sequence of actions during the installation of the converter:

  • installation of the frequency converter;
  • installation of the braking module;
  • installation of the DC choke;
  • installation of additional equipment;
  • overall connection scheme of frequency converters, integration into the system.
