Development of Welding Technologies
It is difficult to imagine modern technologies in industry, construction, and other fields without welding technologies. Today, there are many types of welding that allow work under different conditions, including the use of robots for welding processes.
Robotized Welding
Robotized welding is a fully automated process that is performed using specialized manipulators and welding equipment. The main advantage of this technology is the high quality of welding and productivity. Like all high-tech productions, robotized welding has its own features that are necessary to know in order to achieve maximum results and make the welding process more efficient.
Features of Welding Using Robots
Accuracy of Work Execution
The main advantage of robotized welding is the high accuracy of the performed work. The positioning accuracy of the gas torch can range from 0.03 to 0.05 millimeters, which ensures the effective solution of many tasks in welding operations.
Important Point
A disadvantage is that unlike a regular welder, a robot may change the trajectory in search of the optimal welding point when positioning the processed part inaccurately. Therefore, the deviation in the position of the part should not exceed 0.5 millimeters.
In case it is impossible to achieve the necessary accuracy, it is necessary to adjust the welding trajectory, for example, using a laser seam tracking system. This will help maintain quality, although it may lead to a decrease in productivity by up to 30%. Therefore, it is important to use high-quality equipment at all stages of preparation of the workpiece before welding. A great option for ideal cutting of metal sheets is modern laser cutting machines with computer control.
Calibration of the Robot – Why is it Important?
- In addition to the quality of the workpiece and its proper positioning, an important factor for achieving high quality of work performed is the calibration of the robot. This includes:
- calibration of all axes;
- setting the coordinates of the welding tool;
- setting the coordinates in the area of processing the part.
It should be emphasized that calibration of the axes and adjustment of the tool must be performed without fail. Calibration of the axes is carried out before the first start-up and checked during maintenance. Tool adjustment allows establishing a connection between it and the robot's coordinate system, which is critical for the precise movement of the torch along the required trajectory.
