How to assemble a heat pump yourself?

Heating Devices: Making Heat Pumps by Yourself

Heating devices for premises are an important part of household life. However, due to rising prices and financial difficulties, many consumers are starting to think about the possibility of making such devices on their own.

Stages of Operation of the Heat Installation

  • A sufficient amount of heat carrier comes from natural sources from the surrounding environment;
  • Heat moves through the pipeline that passes through the appropriate natural environment;
  • The heat carrier is transferred to the evaporator (heat exchanger);
  • Concentrated thermal energy is transferred to the surface of the internal circuit;
  • The refrigerant contained in the external circuit increases in temperature and transitions to a gaseous state;
  • The gaseous refrigerant enters the compressor, where pressure and temperature are increased;
  • The heated gas enters the condenser, where it transfers thermal energy to the building's heating system;
  • After the heat transfer stage is completed, the refrigerant in liquid form returns back;
  • The cycle repeats, connecting the heat source again.

Types of Heating Structures

There are two main categories of heat pumps: compression and absorption models, which differ in the method of energy acquisition:

  • Compression mechanisms consume energy from external sources;
  • Absorption mechanisms independently obtain energy while operating.

Classification of Heat Installations

The classification of heating pumps is based on energy sources:

  • Geothermal pumps that use energy from underwater bodies and soil. They can be:
  • Open type, where heat exchange occurs through a liquid, and energy comes from circulating water in the pump system that returns back to the ground.

Components for Making a Heat Pump

To create a pump installation, it is necessary to design the structure in advance and ensure the availability of all components. The assembly process will require:

  • Modern automation devices;
  • A compressor, which can possibly be used from refrigeration or air conditioning installations;
  • Determining the necessary power of the compressor;
  • Selecting the appropriate condenser model, for example, a stainless steel container with wall thickness greater than 1 mm;
  • A coil, preferably copper, which can be easily found in the market;
  • Calculating and adhering to the appropriate winding pitch of the coil;
  • A plastic container of any shape can be used as an evaporator, the volume of the evaporator depends on the modification of the pump installation.

Having prepared all the necessary elements for heating, with the help of the correct instructions for connecting all components, one can implement an excellent project for assembling a heat pump with minimal time and costs.
