Tasks Performed by Robotic Systems in Industrial Enterprises

Today, robotic systems perform a number of important tasks in industrial enterprises. They can be divided into several main types:

  • robotic systems that manipulate workpieces and products;
  • systems that perform processing using various tools;
  • assembly systems;
  • welding systems;
  • painting systems;
  • systems for handling workpieces and products.

Functioning of Robotic Systems

Robotic systems handle loading, unloading, and transporting without human involvement. They do not engage in heavy physical labor, but simply repeat the same operation, guided by preset programs. Typical applications of such systems include:

  • feeding workpieces into machines;
  • removing finished parts;
  • stacking finished products;
  • arranging the layout of workpieces and semi-finished products.

Processing Actions Using Various Tools

One common application is 3D milling, where pneumatic and electro spindles operate at high speeds. Cutting and turning with non-axial tools are less frequently used procedures. Due to their significant working area, robotic devices can efficiently process large parts. The programming of such systems is carried out using software from CAD/CAM tools.

Assembly

Assembly using industrial robotic systems is a very popular and effective process. The average size of a robotic unit can accurately (0.01 mm) position assembly units weighing 150–200 kg.

Welding

Industrial robotic systems perform welding operations such as hole cutting and sheet plasma opening, laser soldering and cutting, electric arc welding, and other metal and polymer processing technologies. Robotic welding units are highly popular in both small and large-scale production. They can effectively perform welding of critical seams and combine quality control functions with other additional operations.

Painting

The process of applying insulating materials, adhesives, primers, and paints to various surfaces is another popular technology. The use of industrial robotic devices in this process ensures stable quality and productivity metrics.
