Save on aspiration with frequency converters

Modernization of the Aspiration System at a Woodworking Enterprise

Working with one of the clients in the woodworking industry, engineers from Chastotnik suggested upgrading the aspiration system. This system consisted of a powerful fan (132 kW), a transport auxiliary fan (37 kW), and ventilation pipes for removing sawdust from the wood processing lines. Since the system was designed with a large power reserve for future production expansion, its electricity consumption turned out to be higher than necessary.

The client also noted that during the connection to the backup substation, they were unable to start production. When starting the 132 kW fan, there was a significant voltage drop, and the protection system automatically disconnected the power.

Problem Solving

The engineers from Chastotnik gathered all the necessary data and proposed a solution that would provide economic benefits without interfering with the technological process. As part of this solution, it was decided to install frequency converters from the Bosch Rexroth company of the Converter Fe series on the fan.

Results for the Client

What did the Client receive as a result of the modernization? Firstly, it became possible to start production when powered by the backup line. Secondly, they managed to save 43 kW of electricity. The quality of sawdust collection remained at the same level. Thus, the payback period for this modernization will be less than a year!

Additionally, representatives of Chastotnik conducted training for the staff responsible for the operation of frequency converters and their settings depending on the work of machines and lines at the enterprise. This highlights the simple truth: everything genius is simple. A simple solution was able to solve numerous problems for the business owners.

However, Chastotnik does not plan to stop at this achievement. Another project will soon be implemented. Details can be found in upcoming articles.
