Danfoss VLT range expands with FC280

Presentation of the new series of Danfoss frequency converters

At the Hannover Fair, Danfoss introduced a new series of frequency converters that will replace the outdated VLT 2800, which has been on the market for nearly two decades. The new converter VLT MidiDrive FC280, expected in Ukraine in 2017, offers new features, including support for modern synchronous motors, enhanced safety, and the ability to configure parameters using memory cards.

Main features of the new drive

The new model of the converter supports communication protocols, such as:

  • Modbus RTU
  • Profibus
  • Profinet
  • Ethernet IP
  • CANopen

Additionally, the VLT MidiDrive FC280 is equipped with a built-in braking module, EMC filters, and the STO (Safe Torque Off) function, which eliminates the need for external options and additional components.

The functionality of memory cards allows for easy copying of parameters from one drive to another. Once connected to the network, data is automatically downloaded, and drives can be programmed on a PC or with the help of a specialized device, which is an option.

Compatibility and specifications

The new drive is compatible with the VLT 2800 model, and the terminals will be largely identical. Danfoss notes that the new converters will gradually replace the old frequency drives.

The VLT MidiDrive series covers power ranges from 0.37 to 22 kW, making it a versatile solution for various applications, such as:

  • conveyors
  • mixers
  • packaging lines
  • pumps
  • fans
  • compressors

Thus, the VLT MidiDrive FC280 represents a significant step forward in frequency conversion technologies, providing new capabilities and increased efficiency.
